Galvan Elementary is delighted to be participating in Fuel Up to Play 60 and Jump Rope for Heart campaigns. These programs teach students to make healthy choices and stay physically active. A healthy school environment can result in greater academic achievements. It's incredible to see the students' commitment to the American Heart Association. The concept of raising money to help others instills good character traits for our students. It's amazing to see our students get enthusiastic and connected to a community organization. Our students at Galvan have raised over $10,000 in this year's J.R.F.H. campaign. In the past 3 years our students have raised a min-blowing $29,500 putting us as the top contributor in CCISD. We are all proud of this major achievement. The success comes from the commitment of the community teachers and staff. It is important to get the community involved in order to have a safe and productive neighborhood. In addition, Gavan stays active by sponsoring several clubs for our students. We have a jump rope team (Star Steppers), dance team (Sliver Stars) and a running club. Many of our students stay after school to participate in these clubs. Many of our parents attend these sessions as spectators and sometimes become participants. The team sponsors devote many hours of their time to help the students improve their level of fitness. As coaches and educators, it is our responsibility to teach from the heart and help maximize each individual potential.
