Rainy Day Hoola Hoops
During the wintertime there are many days that are too cold, snowy or rainy and the students can't go out for recess. We wanted to do some new ideas instead of the same ole playing board games, working on chrome books, etc. What better way to get some exercise and have fun than hoola hoops. We purchased the hoola hoops and the students loved them and the staff even joined in. Many of the students have never tried to hoola so it was a fun time and we try to incorporate it anytime the students can't go outside.

How do you plan to make this Play last during the school year and beyond?

We have the hoops and they will last for many years so we can use them for recess, PE and also classroom brain breaks.

What improvements have you seen at your school?

The students have so much more fun doing this when they have to stay indoors vs sitting down at a table and doing puzzles, games, etc. They get more physical activity and the afternoon goes smoother since they were able to get rid of some extra energy.
