When the students came back from Christmas break, we challenged them to walk 550 miles! That is the distance from Lambeau Field to the US Bank Stadium where the Superbowl was held. Everyone worked hard and participated to reach our goal. We had a graph in the cafeteria along with a board for students to post how they were reaching their miles. We entered the “ Road to the Super Bowl” contest through the Milk Marketing Board of Wisconsin as part of our FUTP 60 activities. Our students had fun sharing their personal goals, and we won a signed Packer helmet by Damarious Randall. On February 16th, we had a pep rally presenting the helmet to our students.
How did students and adults work together as a team?
Some classes had breakout sessions during classes to find out how many steps it took from one end of the building to the other. They then took their steps in a math formula to calculate the amount of miles their steps actually were. We also had some students start an evening walking schedule to prepare them for some upcoming marathons.
