Recess Before Lunch!

Our campus has integrated recess before lunch. Studies have shown that students typically eat more healthy and nutritious foods after recess as opposed to before. In the past, many students would rush through their lunch in order to rush out to recess. Some students would not even start or finish their lunch just to head outside. Nowadays, our students get their full 15 minutes of recess before heading into the Eat Smart Cafe to enjoy a hot and healthy lunch. They remain there until they are finished and their teacher comes to pick them up. Our students must always choose a vegetable and a fruit with their entree. This is not an option, but rather a requirement. I see the other kids recommending which fruits and vegetables they prefer and now students are even reminding other students not to forget their milk. They can choose white or chocolate, which is a perfect way to wash down their meals. So, ramping up to recess has been extremely successful at our campus as more students are eating their healthy and nutritious meals and helping to make their bones stronger with ice cold milk!
