Recess on Wheels Rocks!
Last year we worked very hard to achieve the "Active Schools Award." We wanted to maintain and even add more active involvement in the classroom as well as organized play during recess. Last year was our last year to have Playworks at our school due to funding. Our students have used “Recess on Wheels” to take several different types of equipment out to the playground and hardtop quickly and safely.

What improvements have you seen at your school?

Being more active has helped our school and students in so many ways. Our students have so much more self-confidence. They have improved tremendously on sportsmanship, teamwork, and they have a better understanding of sports in general. Our students love opportunities to be leaders and this has allowed them to be in charge, responsible for the equipment, and team leaders. We have some amazing athletes and this has really helped them to excel in organized sports.

How did you accomplish your goals?

We got a donors choose donation to purchase the cart. We discussed the different types of equipment students wanted. Assigned students to be in charge of taking the cart out and returning it at the end of the day organized.
