Recess Progarm a Success

This is my campus’ second year doing the Fuel Up To Play 60 program. We serve breakfast to all students in their classrooms. By serving them breakfast, this insures that all students get the nutrition they need to start the day. The Ramp Up for Recess Play includes a Flag Football program. I develop basic skills with my 1st graders such as passing routes, proper form in catching, proper form in flag pulling etc. My 2nd -5th graders apply these skills in a game setting. I have large classes, so it is not the traditional 5 on 5, but students enjoy playing 12 on 12 with me as their quarter back. This has resulted in minimal behavior issues and given students an opportunity to enjoy the sport of flag football. I will continue with this program next year as I have seen the difference it makes in my students.

What improvements have you seen at your school?

Students are excited about recess and their have been minimal to no behavior problems during recess.
