River Valley Cheese Tasting Kickoff

Riverway Valley Academy hosted a Cheese Tasting Kickoff on November 13th. Teachers were given information about Fuel Up to Play 60. They were directed to read it to their students before coming down for the tasting. We have five classrooms and they were all scheduled to come to the tasting within the hour of 1-2pm. The students and staff took the created survey and went to 5 stations where they tasted a cheese sample. At each station there was a cheese sample and a true/false question about cheese. The five cheeses were Blueberry Cheddar Cheese, Amish Gorgonzola Blue Cheese, Cheese curds, Hot Pepper Cheese and Cranberry Cinnamon Goat Cheese. The students and staff loved the activity! They tried cheeses they would have never tried before. We asked them what their favorite cheese was and we were surprised by the results. The result numbers were very similar, so it was a good mix. We will be doing some more activities like this as they students responded very well.

How did you accomplish your goals?

Our goal was to educate students on cheeses. They had first hand experience on different types of cheeses. We asked the students if they enjoyed the activity and it was a BIG sucess!
