Our 5th grade students created Breakfast Week after discovering a need for better nutrition education via the school wellness investigation. They created newsletters, flyers, posters and educated their peers about the importance of breakfast. They met with the food services director to create a menu for the week and helped serve breakfast.
How did students and adults work together as a team?
Students worked closely with the program advisors and food services director to create a menu and research information to share. Students lead the play with standby assistance from adults.
What improvements have you seen at your school?
Kids were excited to eat breakfast and attendance was up about 15% during the Breakfast Week.
