The FUTP 60 team from RKE in Annapolis, MD, was invited to speak and lead a presentation to the PE teachers of AACPS. The students in 2nd grade came to a presentation to talk and lead activities/Plays to help promote the FUTP 60 program and give the PE teachers some activities that they can use in their school PE class or anytime during the school day. The FUTP 60 students led Plays/activities and they also participated in them with the PE teachers. At the end of the presentation, the teachers were able to listen to the students and how FUTP 60 has had a positive impact on them. Parents also talked about how the program has helped their children understand more about healthy eating and being physically active for 60 minutes a day.

How did students and adults work together as a team?

The students led and taught the PE teachers different activities they could use at their schools. Also, the students participated on a team to achieve a common goal while working with the adult PE teachers.

How did you accomplish your goals?

I was able to accomplish my goals by giving the students an opportunity to lead the Plays and to participate with the teachers during the presentation. The biggest impact came from the children and parents speaking at the presentation.

What improvements have you seen at your school?

The students and teachers have been chatting about the students who were brave and presented the RKE FUTP 60 program to the PE teachers of AACPS. It has been so positive and now other teachers are asking what they can do to help the program.
