We have been rocking and rolling (dancing) here at CMS with our funds! We had morning milk facts announced all month! As students would come to PE or Health class, I would ask them questions about the fact of the day. We had a milk contest on two different days this month. Students received prizes like stress balls, PE heart bags, and lots of healthy heart stickers for exercising properly and meeting fitness goals. In health class we created menus for upcoming lunches to be served, including the nutrition facts! Best of all was our lunch time information commercial breaks. Students have learned all sorts of cool facts and jokes about dairy farmers and farming across the state of Tennessee (like the Cooper Dairy in Morrison TN, Mac Pate, Blan Dougherty, Vic & Barbara Arwood, Amy & Tim McPhail, Albert & Celeste Blackburn, Eastawood Dairy Farm, and others all the way to California through power-points looped that included video segments all about milk, dairy farming, and establishing a healthy diet which of course includes milk. We found one really cool farming segment from California that was so into technology that it was completely powered by the cow wastes.

What improvements have you seen at your school?

Students seem more interested in learning new ways to eat healthy. Many now realize that it is important to maintain a healthy diet. Students enjoyed the milk contest and especially winning prizes at lunch.
