Rocking Donation for Rock House Kids

Rock House Kids is a local organization that provides meals to area "street kids" and is run completely off of donations. Some of those kids attend our school. We wanted to help Rock House Fuel Up our kids to help them be successful in school. Our school raised money to help Rock House Kids FUEL UP community children. Each child received a (paper) football to decorate and return with a $1 or more donation. Footballs were displayed in the gymnasium, where the students eat lunch and were able to watch the footballs accumulate. We raised $175 and presented Rock House Kids with a check at our Fuel Up to Play 60 pep assembly.

What improvements have you seen at your school?

Students are more compassionate and thinking of others, especially local children. They were interested in helping others have access to healthy meals.

How did you accomplish your goals?

We sent home a letter to parents explaining our "play" and how we planned to assist a local charity. The participation and feedback was nothing but positive.

How do you plan to make this Play last during the school year and beyond?

Rock House Kids constantly provides meals to local "street kids" and will appreciate any donations to help fund the food. Healthy and fed students are more attentive in the classroom.
