Round the World We Go!

We are just getting ready to kick off our third full year of running. We have received several grants to help with this year. We are looking to have every student join the 100 Mile Club and our goal is to run 25,000 miles around the world! We will be participating in community 5Ks, painting our campus "healthy" with Fuel Up to Play 60 stencils, eating healthier, and becoming stronger in body, mind, and soul! Ultimately, we are looking forward to becoming a healthier community as a whole. Cheers to your health! One mile at a time!!!

What improvements have you seen at your school?

Students take ownership in their health and their behavior. Teachers are seeing positive improvements in and out of the classroom. We had 10 100-mile achievers in '13-14 and 20 achievers in '14-15. More students are striving to succeed.

How do you plan to make this Play last during the school year and beyond?

We have had this Play going for 3+ years now and it gets stronger and more successful each year. Part of my goal has been to help the students understand that this is their program, not my program.

How did students and adults work together as a team?

Everyone takes ownership and teachers are seeing success with the program as students buy in and feel better. As younger students enter the 3rd year since implementing the running club, students are having more fun!
