"Run for Power" is a running club for 3rd-5th graders after school two days a week. In addition to learning different running components, the students also learn lifelong skills for leadership, character, perseverance and teamwork. We strive to help kids learn to have a passion for fitness throughout their lives.
How did you accomplish your goals?
We accomplished our goals by starting out with running in small amounts at a time and gradually building on time and speed. We found that kids responded best by adding pedometers, competitions and running games. The kids worked together when they were on teams and pushed each other to try their best. Before we knew it, we saw gains from everyone in all areas of character.
