One of our 4th grade boys decided he wanted to get in shape for next year's peewee football season. He decided he would ask a different friend each day to run/walk four "victory laps" with him each day at recess. Eight weeks into the school year, he has lost a total of eleven pounds and feels terrific about himself. His new image has encouraged him to become a leader both in the gym and in the classroom.

What challenges did you face and how did you overcome them?

Students who were not able to run the entire victory lap were encouraged to run further each week.

What improvements have you seen at your school?

Different physical activity units such as archery have encouraged a whole new group of students to become interested in physical activity.

What challenges did you face and how did you overcome them?
