This is my 5th year doing running club at my campus and every year I lose more than half of my students, because they get tired of just running. This year, I started out with 40 and am now at 32 still running because of Marathon Kids. The students get excited about receiving their prizes for completing their marathons. My students run 75+ minutes a week and some have even gotten their family members involved in walking or running so they can add to their marathon trackers. I plan to make this better next year, and will try to incorporate it into our PE Classes.

How did you accomplish your goals?

My goal was to use this to keep my students excited about running throughout the year. I usually lose half of my runners and this year I have only lost 8 out of 40.

I have made a big deal about them receiving their prizes for completing a marathon. They want to either be first to get the next one or they just want to get the next one.

What challenges did you face and how did you overcome them?

Keeping track of 40 runners and their laps was a challenge, but I created a spreadsheet, and have them sign in. I mark how many laps they did to equal a mile.
