Our K-5 students run in our mile club every Wednesday. The coaches keep track of students' individual miles and grade levels. The mileage charts are posted outside the PE doors for students to see how their grade is doing. Also, in May we will have our first Read/Run Marathon. Students from kindergarten through fifth grade signed up to read 26 books and run 26 miles. Students read and ran at home and in class. On May 13 we will have our 50 contestants run their last mile at Field Day. Students will receive a medal and t-shirt.

How do you plan to make this Play last during the school year and beyond?

We plan to incorporate the read/run marathon to every year's competition. Our goal for next year is to have at least 200 participants. We want to have staff participate with the students to create a healthy feet coalition.
