Our students and their parents love things that are motivating and tangible as well. Marathon Kids allowed our students and their parents to be active members of our running club and gave them obtainable goals to reach together as a family and tangible items for them to garner when they met those goals. During this time, relationships were build between the staff and parents as well as other community members. Health and fitness (nutrition) was also talked about every time the running club got together. Many students became leaders during this time.

How did students and adults work together as a team?

Students started bringing their parents and encouraging them to become more active with them.

How did you accomplish your goals?

We track all of our miles every time we ran/walked and the parents tracked them on the mile tracker at home.

What improvements have you seen at your school?

Many more parents, especially dads, are now coming to the school to help with their kids during learning activities than before. We have many more volunteers.
