We start our classes off with 7 minutes of running, trying not to stop. The kids work their way up to running for 20 minutes without stopping. Our goal is for 20 minutes in the 1st semester and 30 plus minutes in the 2nd semester.

How did you accomplish your goals?

We started small and worked our way up, trying to encourage the little goals and working towards the big ones.

How do you plan to make this Play last during the school year and beyond?

We encourage the students to work for small goals and have an overall goal that they are working to attain at the end of the school year.

What challenges did you face and how did you overcome them?

Students are very intimidated by running and the majority come into class thinking that they can not do it. Having an overall goal and then breaking it down to small steps (goals) helps them realize that with a little work and effort it is not as hard as they initially think that it is.
