Our school is participating in Marathon Kids for the 10th year in a row! This will be the second year students will be striving to complete four marathons by the end of the school year. We held a kick-off for each grade level back in September, where each student ran their opening mile and got to take a sneak peak at the awards for completing each Marathon. Throughout the school year, our student team will continue to promote Marathon Kids with posters and at assemblies. Students have an opportunity to run for 10 minutes each day and have been doing an excellent job logging their miles and earning their awards for being physically active.

What improvements have you seen at your school?

Before last year, Marathon Kids was an at-home optional program where the student's goal was to complete ONE marathon by the end of the school year. With the addition of new awards from Nike as well as being able to run up to FOUR marathons, we have seen so much more excitement around the program. We hope that Fitnessgram results will show an improvement in each student's cardiovascular functions by the end of the school year.
