Our 6th and 7th graders participate in the school's Garden Club two to three times a week. They are weeding and watering the garden weekly. Its been an exciting day at our school because our garden is being productive. We were able to pull up our first batch of radishes for the fall season. We are watching the garden closely because our snow peas and squash are almost ready to be harvested.
How did you accomplish your goals?
We accomplished our goals by providing a clean space that provided great sunlight for our garden.
How did students and adults work together as a team?
The students were excited about beginning a Garden Club. We partnered up with the Houston Zoo to bring live animals to our campus to teach the students about how important gardens are to our school and environment.
What challenges did you face and how did you overcome them?
We were challenged by not having the right equipment to have a garden, but my principal was able to help provide the materials we needed.
