Fourth and fifth grade Student Ambassadors from Liberty Elementary School (Bolingbrook, Illinois) worked with Aramark food service to provide the student body with samples of their sunbutter and jelly sandwiches and cinnamon minis. These items are available to students as a breakfast/lunch option but are not selected as often as other options. The Student Ambassadors came up with the idea and worked with the lunch ladies at our school to set up the activity. All the students were excited about the activity and it provided the Ambassadors with an opportunity to lead and promote Fuel Up to Play 60.
How did you accomplish your goals?
In November, the Student Ambassadors asked permission to activate this Play. They met with the lunch ladies from our school. Permission was obtained. On January 10, the Student Ambassadors served the items during the lunch periods to students. Students were encouraged to try the items and most seemed to like them.
