We held a tasting event in class for some of our 4th grade students. They were able to taste a variety of cheese, mac and cheese and grilled cheese sandwiches. It was a cheesy afternoon and the students loved it. We also had a "Say Cheese" photo area for students to pose. We got the support of our SHAC team, parents, teachers and our FUTP 60 advisor. Students also wore cheese heads.
How did you accomplish your goals?
Our SHAC (Student Health Advocacy Team) helped organize the event along with our community liaison, teachers, parents, students and our FUTP 60 Advisor. Our SHAC members helped set up and distribute the items while parents cooked.
What challenges did you face and how did you overcome them?
At first it was difficult to figure out how we were going to get mac and cheese and grilled cheese to the school, but two parents volunteered to come in and cook for the class.
How do you plan to make this Play last during the school year and beyond?
Our SHAC team was able to support the classroom that wanted to complete this challenge. Our hope is that other classrooms will continue to want to try these challenges and contests and we will support them in any way we can with the help of our SHAC, food service department, cafeteria manager , teachers and parents.
