Seaman KICKOFF with FUTP 60
Seaman High School is teaming with Future Farmers of America (FFA). Their two plays are physical activity (walking/running cardio group) where students train for a 5K using the Couch to 5K program and the event Fall into Fitness 5K Fun Run in November. FFA students will volunteer behind the scene to help the community 5K event and some will also be participants. Their second event will allow the FFA to host a “Day at the Farm” for all district 3rd graders. FFA students will be peer teachers providing hands-on experiences for the young students to learn and understand where there food and dairy products come from. Our schools are looking forward to a school year of positive, healthy changes through Fuel Up to Play 60!

How did students and adults work together as a team?

The running club and the FFA students teamed with community members to help plan the Fall into Fitness Fun Run. Signs, flyers, and a banner were designed to help advertise the district Fun Run. FFA students sent letters and met with a local dairy and produce company. They were excited to receive a donation of chocolate milk from Robert's Dairy and Leonard"s Produce donated apples and bananas.

How do you plan to make this Play last during the school year and beyond?

The “Fall into Fitness Fun Run” was successful with over 200 community participants. The group is already planning and brainstorming ideas for next year. Their thoughts, if they charged for the event this might be a great way to raise funds to support the FFA Day at the Farm for our district 3rd graders.
