Our focus was on increasing reimbursable breakfasts at Pennfield Middle School. By utilizing a grab-n-go / breakfast-in-the-classroom hybrid we were able to serve over 10,000 more breakfasts than the previous school year. We identified the need for middle school students to have breakfast every morning and researched the most effective models. We then gained support from faculty and started serving a grab-n-go breakfast between 1st & 2nd hour. We boosted school breakfast participation by offering a quick and easy breakfast in the hallway in between morning classes. Students grab a breakfast in the hallway and are able to finish it in the classroom. We are now focused on expansion of the program so as many students can benefit from breakfast as possible. We are targeting additional equipment and POS licenses to expand the program to additional locations in the building. Our record so far is 140 grab-n-go breakfasts in the 5 minutes between classes.
