Excite the kids by hosting a seed exchange! No need to buy seeds. All you have to do is:
· Find seeds in the fruits and vegetables that you eat or outside
· Rinse them if needed
· Set out to dry
· Place them in a zip locked bag
· Label the bag with the seed type, date, child’s name and teacher’s name
· Bring them to school on a certain date to exchange
· Plant new seeds at home
and watch them grow!
How did students and adults work together as a team?
I invited local Master Gardeners to the event. As the kids were exchanging the seeds, they talked about the size and shape of them. I also had another Master Gardener answer questions kids had about growing seeds.
