Our MALO (FUTP 60 group) came up with the idea to make healthy breakfast smoothies to hand out to students in the morning on St. Patrick's Day. We had a table set up with our kids and had everyone try our healthy green smoothie. We also had a push-up competition and handed out free t-shirts for those who completed the challenge and then refueled with their healthy smoothie. The smoothie had pineapple, banana, orange juice, milk, and spinach.

How did students and adults work together as a team?

The students were trying to think of how we could best utilize our group funding for the school and the smoothie machine we won in the video competition. Everyone thought that smoothies were delicious and easy to make, so we went with it. The teachers purchased the supplies and set up, and the students encouraged their classmates to start their day off with a healthy breakfast smoothie.

How did you accomplish your goals?

We bought enough food to hand out about 200 smoothies and we didn't have any left over. The students did a great job of encouraging their classmates to start their day off with breakfast!

How do you plan to make this Play last during the school year and beyond?

We are going to begin fundraising so that we can have money to purchase fruit and other supplies to make this a monthly activity.
