Community Involvement

The community that our school is located in is one that has many challenges; one of them is violence. In an effort to bring our community together, a West Park employee, along with community partners, decided to feed the community. Various donations were made in the form of apples and sandwiches to feed the community.

How did you accomplish your goals?

In order to accomplish our goals, we partnered with community organizations that are focused on making a change in the community.

How did students and adults work together as a team?

Students and adults got the word out about the community event, which was crucial to its success.

What challenges did you face and how did you overcome them?

The location is known for violence. We overcame the challenge by partnering with the police department and letting people know that we would do all we could to make it a safe event.
