This year, we have concentrated on using more Brain Boosts in our classrooms. Our PE teacher has created a google doc that has a variety of Brain Boosts on it and grows with more ideas each month. We have a group of children who have formed our "Lets Move Club". These students meet 2-3 times a month with the physical educator and learn new Brain Boosts. Then they teach them to the student body during "Morning Meeting" time on Wednesday mornings. Mr. B our PE teacher also shares activities at staff meetings. Teachers have reported that students seem to be on task more as a result of the in class movement.
How did students and adults work together as a team?
The PE teacher has facilitated the change with the help of students, teachers and administration. It has been a success because of everyone working together. Students in the "Lets Move Club" are eager to learn new ideas to teach and share with their peers.
How do you plan to make this Play last during the school year and beyond?
Brain Boosts are now a part of our school culture. Students expect to have them to aid in their ability to focus on classroom activities.
