One of our success stories at our school would be improving our lunchroom menu board. Students oftentimes saw it as an eyesore. During one of the meetings of the schools Wellness Leadership Team, it was brought up that something should be done about the board. The first changes that were made included a larger white poster board with Velcro spaces to put up the weeks menu items. After a few weeks though the kids thought it could use more color. More changes were then made to the menu board by adding different colors at the top of the board for each day of the week. Also pictures of fruits and vegetables were added to the boarder of the menu board. The kids however still wanted more for the menu board so right now we are working on adding pictures of each menu item to the board to go along with the words of the menu item. This will allow the kids to see and read what is going to be offered during the week. Also the trays that are pictured on the board will be ones full of fruits and vegetables to promote them to eat healthy during lunch.
