Physical Activity Participation

The students participated in the 100 mile walk/run. They were so very excited that they eventually began to request running laps to complete their miles over playing at the playground or playing other games during PE. This physical activity Play honestly changed the outlook of running at our campus. Students were more enthusiastic and excited to run then they ever were before.

How did you accomplish your goals?

I mapped out a course that and calculated the number of laps it would take to achieve 100 miles and how long it would take to obtain that goal. Students helped and gave them a sense of ownership in their activity.

How do you plan to make this Play last during the school year and beyond?

The miles were obtained throughout the year and we even had students taking it beyond the 100 miles and making it a competition amongst themselves.

What challenges did you face and how did you overcome them?

Our biggest challenge was the weather. We had to measure out miles in the cafeteria one day to add to our total.
