Breakfast For Everyone — First Meal Matters

We borrowed a smoothie bike from General Mills to have a pedal for your breakfast for all of the 6th graders at Webb Middle School. We have 10 Student Ambassadors who stepped up and did an amazing job. We had breakfast for all 6th graders in the cafeteria. We made dreamsicle smoothies which is orange juice and vanilla yogurt. We made sure all students who wanted to go on the bike had the opportunity. The Ambassadors were spread out to make sure we had coverage with directing the students to the bike, helping at the bike, or pouring the smoothies into cups and making sure everyone received one. The event was such a success that we will be doing this with our 7th and 8th graders as well. It was fun to show them that you can mix up breakfast by adding orange juice to yogurt and whipping it up quickly!

How did students and adults work together as a team?

The students and the advisors met prior to the event to make a plan for the morning. We all stayed with the plan and the event went off without a hiccup. It was so great to work with the students.

How do you plan to make this Play last during the school year and beyond?

We are hoping to win a smoothie bike so we can do this again for the 7th and 8th graders next year. It was a great experience to show them a new healthy recipe and we want to share it with the rest of the students.

What improvements have you seen at your school?

We have had more students ask for healthy recipes they can do on the weekends for an easy grab and go option for their busy weekends. Our breakfast participation has also increased since the event.
