Access to Healthy Foods, Physical Activity Participation,  Success with Funds

Lehman Middle School is located approximately 2 miles from the Pro Football Hall of Fame. In fact Tom Benson Stadium is our HS home football field. Our students at Lehman MS understand the importance of healthy living and are very excited to participate in FUTP 60. Combining 60 minutes of Physical Activity and a Healthy Diet, leading to longer, healthier productive lives. They also are aware of the studies that show physical activity plays an important role in their Academic challenges throughout the school day. We have conclude our testing for the Fitness Gram and all students that have reached the Healthy Fitness Zone in all Testing Areas will receive a FUTP 60 T-shirt. Also, during the month of April we will be having Smoothy Friday in our PE classes. Students will be helping create healthy smoothies and creating recipes. FUTP 60 has had a positive impact on Lehman MS. We will be posting video of Smoothy Fridays in April. Until then stay active and healthy.

What improvements have you seen at your school?

Students are more aware of the importance of physical activity and healthy eating.

How did students and adults work together as a team?

Teachers at Lehman MS have been participating in Lehman's Biggest Loser since the first of the year. Students are aware and are encouraging teachers.

How do you plan to make this Play last during the school year and beyond?

We have challenged our 6th and 7th graders that will be returning to Lehman next year. We have asked that they track their physical activity and diets throughout the summer and bring their results back to school next year.
