Soccer Club
After many years of students showing an interest in after school soccer, River Trails Middle School now has an after school Soccer Club. This club was spearheaded by an 8th grade student who persistently pursued our administration to try and get the club started. Our Athletic Director contacted surrounding schools in our conference and was able to get three interscholastic games scheduled this fall. We had 3 teacher volunteers and our principal supervise the program this fall. We had 45 boys and girls, from 6th, 7th, and 8th grade participate in practices and games. Going forward we have games already scheduled this spring and hope to have even more students come out and participate.

What improvements have you seen at your school?

The physical education department reported that the biggest improvement they have seen in class is more effort and camaraderie. Students involved in the soccer club are now involved in an athletic setting outside of school hours. They feel as if they are part of the school and love what they are doing and they now have a vested interest in River Trails Middle School.
