Thanks to Fuel Up To Play 60, Heron Pond Elementary, located in Milford, NH, was able to purchase soccer goals. Prior to these goals, we used pop up goals that, while they offered something for the students, something was still lacking. We purchased goals that are 6’6” H x 12’ W that stay on the field - they are not moved/brought in each day like the pop up goals were. This is a huge help to the staff and the result for students has been tremendous. In addition to now having permanent goals, I line the field so it is much like a real soccer field (just smaller). It is perfect for our students in grades 2-5 and ALL students have access to use this during recess time. With this addition, there are roughly 25 students each recess that use the field. This has opened up other areas, created a more organized activity, and resulted in fewer behavior issues during recess. We are ecstatic with the funding received and could not have had the goals without the help of Fuel Up to Play 60.

What improvements have you seen at your school?

The improvements at our school are recess specific. The soccer goals have allowed another structured activity in which the students can participate. This has resulted in fewer behavior issues as well as more choice. Students love having options and the more we can offer them, the better for everyone involved. Soccer has been a huge success since installing these goals and it will continue for years to come and benefit hundreds of students each school year.
