Oak Hill Elementary recently had a "Soup-er Bowl Celebration" where students were encouraged to wear t-shirts of their favorite football team, as well as bring in cans of soup to donate to the Growing Oaks Food Program and Oak Hill Food Pantry. A random prize drawing was done for students who participated, as well as class parties for the two classes with the most cans donated. 1634 cans of soup were donated to charity from this event. The students enjoy helping our local community.
What challenges did you face and how did you overcome them?
We come from a poor community, where many students utilize the charities we are assisting. By having a competition format, this encourages the students who can donate to increase their donations.
