Spring into Nutrition with Fruit
The Friday before Spring Break was to begin, the FUTP 60 team planned to show the students at Engadine the importance of making important decisions about nutrition. To do that, we blended and prepared 4 different types of fruit smoothies for all students to choose from. It was the perfect time as students were excited to start Spring Break and it gave us all a much needed energy boost! The team chose strawberry, strawberry-banana, blueberry, and mixed berry fruit along with non-fat yogurt and 100% apple juice to power up their classmates and friends. The student body was very excited to receive their smoothie and were asking for seconds! "Can we do this again?" "This is so good!" "I'm going to make this at home." Those were the comments we heard from both elementary, junior high school, and high school students!

What challenges did you face and how did you overcome them?

A big challenge was knowing how much of the ingredients to order! We did order too much but the cafeteria used it to make smoothies for breakfast!

How do you plan to make this Play last during the school year and beyond?

Make up and send smoothie recipe cards home with students.
