State Testing Fuel Up in the Classroom
We recently had state AZELLA testing at our school. We wanted to prepare our students as much as possible, so we had a fuel station prior to the test. Students were able to quickly grab something in class to charge up their batteries and be fueled to succeed. We offered milk, string cheese, 100% fruit cups and whole grain breakfast bars. Students loved it and it took a little bit of the stress away from testing.

How did you accomplish your goals?

We were able to get nutritious donations from adults, so we would have something healthy to eat before AZELLA state testing.

How do you plan to make this Play last during the school year and beyond?

If we plan our funding correctly, we can have Fuel Up stations set up in the morning prior to state testing, so kids are focused on the assessment and not worried about hungry bellies.

What improvements have you seen at your school?

Students were excited to have something before testing and as a result they did great on the state AZELLA assessment. Having breakfast available in the class allowed them to Fuel Up for success.
