Access to Healthy Foods,  Community Involvement
We are a STEM magnet school and we have quarterly STEM nights to promote community and family involvement. In order to encourage more student participation we did fruit and veggie testing at STEM night. Offering these little snacks allowed people to try things they normally would not try and to maybe incorporate it in their diet. Doing this during the STEM night also brings in the parents and community and allows them to be aware of Fuel up at school.

How did students and adults work together as a team?

The student Ambassadors and the adults worked together to get people interested in trying healthy food and to bring awareness to the event and to the fruit and veggie choices.

How did you accomplish your goals?

We planned for the event and set up a table grabbing interest of the students and parents at the event. We had stickers and little goodies to encourage the students to try the fruits and veggies. They only got the prizes if they tried the veggies.

How do you plan to make this Play last during the school year and beyond?

We are going to do this next year during further STEM nights as well as to bring this to the school day. We are going to further expand the things that are tasted and then encourage more students to participate.
