Physical Activity Participation
Seventh grade students created their own game in PE class. The game is called "Around the World Table Ball", and the students must use their hand to hit the ball onto the table, let it bounce, once, and return it onto the table. All the while they are continually moving around the table in a clockwise manner, and playing until there is only one person left.

What improvements have you seen at your school?

My school has incorporated the belief that everyone should have PE everyday. Starting next year all students in grades K-12 will have daily PE.

How do you plan to make this Play last during the school year and beyond?

Getting students to put the technology down and go play is a struggle anywhere you go. That is no different for my students, but making sure that they know how to play both in school and out of school is critical. I work very hard to make sure students get at least 60 minutes of physical activity everyday.

How did students and adults work together as a team?

The students and adults work together by communicating effectively, and being on the same page. Both agree that physical education and activity time are essential aspects of a student's day, and we do not take it away from them at any cost. Getting students to want to be active as well, by having positive healthy role models is another method.
