Students and teachers had been asking for a few more "hot food" choices in our Grab and Go breakfast. We had the principal and assistant principal choose at least 10 students from each grade level to take part in a taste testing and a survey to help decide what changes to breakfast we would make. The students tasted pancake on a stick, sausage biscuit and breakfast taco. We took the product with the highest votes and started it on the menu the next week. We will slowly add in the remaining products and some new ones for the 2018-2019 school year. We will have at least one "hot" food choice per day.
How did students and adults work together as a team?
We asked the students to suggest some items they would like to try. We got the products in and did a taste testing and voting session with the students selected from each grade level. Our Assistant Superintendent of Business Operations, the Assistant Principal, Director of Nutrition and the Assistant Director of Nutrition served the items, explained the voting process and made the decision based on the votes.
