We received the flag football kit through FUTP 60 this summer. Four of our FUTP 60 student leadership team members (2 boys & 2 girls) worked with our recess supervisor to create rules for flag football using the guide book included in the kit. The students also appeared on our daily broadcast SEA news to promote this new recess activity to encourage students in 3rd through 5th grade to participate in. These leaders along with our recess supervisor also taught the games to their peers during recess. We kicked off that event today!

How did students and adults work together as a team?

Our leadership team consisted of 20 students in 4th and 5th grade. We split up into 3 committees to get more accomplished. The recess committee worked on getting the flag football game rules created and on its promotion. They worked with our recess supervisor to teach the game to their peers.

How do you plan to make this Play last during the school year and beyond?

The students will be planning on creating alternative activities during the winter months to replace flag football but will bring it back in the Spring. Students are talking about maybe creating a flag football league for recess so that teams can play against each other in a round robin tournament.
