Summary of the Year

Vicki Maxwell,   Sullivan Gardens K-8 School
Community Involvement, Teamwork,  Other

It has been a great year at SGS K-8. Our garden is still growing strong (the garden started years ago with the "grow your own pizza challenge"), we have a student Ambassador that has started her own "Fuel Up to Play 60" club that meets weekly, we built a new walking trail around the playground at the elementary school, and we have had several meetings with nutrition discussion options for the "grab and go" breakfasts and other meals. I am excited about how the program has grow over the years at SGS, and I look forward to seeing what we can do with FUTP 60 next year.

How did students and adults work together as a team?

We had student and adult volunteers working on the playground. The teachers and students work together in the garden, and there is a teacher advisor for the FUTP 60 club.

How do you plan to make this Play last during the school year and beyond?

The garden is several years old, and we have a great volunteer who is constantly writing for grants and asking for volunteers to keep it going.
