We had our students participate in a bracket contest. Students were able to choose the teams they thought would win in the playoffs and eventually the Super Bowl. We graphed the schools predictions for who would be headed for the Super Bowl. Students with correct brackets were entered into a raffle to win some amazing FUTP 60 prizes.
How did students and adults work together as a team?
Students and adults (SHAC/ SWAT) created the poster and bracket papers for students. Teachers worked together with their students to complete the bracket. SWAT members graphed the results.
How do you plan to make this Play last during the school year and beyond?
This was a great prediction activity. It can be used in math and applied to several sporting events throughout the year.
What challenges did you face and how did you overcome them?
At first we only had enough prizes for a few winners and a lot of our students came to us with similar brackets so we decided to enter them into a raffle rather than giving everyone with a correct prediction a prize.
