Physical Activity Participation

Our school hosted the annual SVE Mini Marathon for all 4th and 5th graders in our entire school district! Students run, jog, walk a 3.2 mile country course with official marathon bibs and timing at the finish line. The marathon was a huge success and included running club training for many of our students months ahead of the big day, October 31, 2016.

How did students and adults work together as a team?

The SVE mini marathon is organized and facilitated by a district team of educators and community members representing all 5 of our district elementary schools. Students work ahead of time by preparing for the run either as a class or through an after school running club. Community businesses donate funds to purchase official marathon T-shirts for every 4th and 5th grade student. Together, students and adults experience a real marathon promoting physical fitness.
