Community Involvement, Physical Activity Participation, Student Leadership, Teamwork
On October 5, 2018 our Student Ambassadors hosted our annual Tailgate Kickoff event. This event brings together student leaders from Team Franklin and Team Hoover as well as other families and local business from our community. Together, everyone gathers for two hours of eating and physical activities. The families get a chance to socialize often for the first time, as this is many of their first time of interacting with one another. The goal of the event is to have all of our student members and their families gain a better understanding of what our goals are for the year and to have fun as a new group. By the end of the event, everyone is on board for another great year. We conclude the event by showing our newly formed community unity by driving over to our local high school in support of the varsity football team.
How did students and adults work together as a team?
The students and adults work together by putting the tailgate together. They display their team pride through the decorations of their tailgates and they also work together to produce tasty snacks for everyone at the event to sample.
How did you accomplish your goals?
Each year that we have done this event, our group has gained more participation from the families and businesses of the community. This year, we represented 3 schools with kids ranging from 3rd grade up to 11th grade. As the families and generations of kids grow, we hope to have an even bigger representation of schools.
