We hosted our first "Take Your Parent to PE Week" and it was a hit! Coach Barthel invited parents of 2 grade levels everyday for a week (PK-4th). Parents showed up in great numbers! This gave parents an idea of what their child does when they come to PE and why being active is important. We did our fitness stations as a warm up, then played a game or went outside with equipment from the FUTP 60 Flag Essentials Kit. Parents were provided flyers about eating healthy and staying active and we served water with sugar free flavor packets. A frequent comment among the parents was, “I know I’m gonna be sore tomorrow. Thanks for the workout!”

How did you accomplish your goals?

I was able to give a “snapshot” of what my students do when they come to PE. The parents that participated realized that PE was not just playing games. We pride ourselves with focusing on the whole child, living healthy, physical lives.
