Taking It to The Max
We have started the year out running figuratively and literally! We have put our funds to good use and are creating a long-lasting atmosphere of health and wellness at our school and at home. We have held numerous contests to encourage student and family involvement in our monthly newsletters. We have encouraged student buy-in and led the charge with educating them on physical activity levels and the food they choose to eat. Students have been encouraged to provide feedback and we are creating a group of Student Ambassadors to help lead other students and encourage them to participate in our programs. We have seen many students become more interested with the new equipment and resources we have purchased with our grant. Students are excited to learn and try new things. We know it is a continual process, but look forward to building on our healthy school and community environment. We are off to a great start and have seen students already trying new foods and activities at higher rates. Teachers have also bought in and are encouraging their students by using the new equipment and resources to keep their students active and healthy. We are a Touchdown School with extra points and we look forward to the future!

What improvements have you seen at your school?

We have introduced new equipment, led educational smoothie days, encouraged student involvement/, teamwork, and increased activity levels with recess equipment. We have noticed more buy-in from staff and students. They are now more eager to try new activities and foods. The program has given us so many pathways to extend the PE and health classroom and provide students with the knowledge, motivation, and incentives to start and keep healthy active lifestyles!
