The Chipper Bowl

A three week long, after school flag football program featuring 6 teams and over fifty 4th and 5th grade students ending with a playoff tournament. The culminating event was the 1st annual Chipper Bowl! The top 2 teams competed for the trophy and right to autograph the Play 60 game ball. The Chipper Bowl was well attended by families and community members and held under the lights at Sandymount Park.

How did students and adults work together as a team?

Students and staff worked together to create rules that encouraged inclusion and participation. For example, each player would quarterback a drive during a game.

How do you plan to make this Play last during the school year and beyond?

Due to positive feedback from participants and the community, season 2 will begin in the fall of 2016. Also a spring disc golf outing is being planned to build on the success of the fall football season.
