The Sky is the Limit

The students at Northeast Elementary participated in a fall running club. We had over half of our students participate. The students celebrated the completion of our running club by playing sports with our local football, volleyball, and softball players. The students love this positive interaction with high school athletes. Our fall running club was a success getting kids moving!

What improvements have you seen at your school?

I love that students see me and connect me with running club! They often stop me in the halls and have comments about their running, sharing their successes and goals.

What challenges did you face and how did you overcome them?

The weather was a big challenge. We had many HOT HOT days. We encouraged the students to bring water bottles and we allowed them to grab a quick drink inside the building.

How did you accomplish your goals?

We challenged the students to run an accumulative 2,400 miles. The students were provided with a rocket to put on their lockers to track their miles. Every runner had a running card that was marked every lap they ran.
