We had been using a very inefficient and faulty cooler for a couple of years now. When we had the chance to upgrade to a brand new one last year through the grant writing process, we swung for the fences. We were fortunate enough to receive funding for our new cooler and it arrived this winter. A big THANK YOU to FUTP 60 and the Dairy Farmers of Wisconsin for our new addition.
How did students and adults work together as a team?
My student team and I (Mlodik’s Minions) worked together to come up with ideas on what we could improve at the school. We talked with administration and our food service people to come up with ideas. We will also be working on putting together a parfait tasting day the last week of school during our annual school track meet, during which the students on my team will make and serve their classmates the healthy snack.
How do you plan to make this Play last during the school year and beyond?
The decals on the cooler will be a reminder of the FUTP 60 initiatives (Eating healthy, being active, and leadership). Students will be directed toward them in teachable moments, as the cooler is a mainstay in my gymnasium and also where the kids eat breakfast and lunch. With proper maintenance and care, the cooler should last far into the future and be a constant reminder of the FUTP 60 message.
